We are looking to hire a Senior Software Engineer to join our team

Azure Compute is at the core of our Cloud Computing platform with phenomenal, continued growth. We build highly available, planet-scale distributed systems that offers and operates millions of Virtual Machines and containers for customers to run mission critical workloads in the Microsoft cloud.

We are a team that is integral to the Core Azure Platform, dedicated to refining the overall experience of our services to ensure customers can effortlessly and effectively operate their workloads in the cloud. Our goal is to minimize disruptions related to platform changes and offer prompt, automated insights that assist customers in pinpointing issues arising from the Azure platform. Utilizing big data and machine learning, we are adept at identifying regressions within the platform. Our team’s work is highly visible and plays a pivotal role in the ongoing expansion and success of Azure.

Responsibilities

  • Work within an agile development environment, partnering with developers and product owners to define, architect, and deliver high-quality software solutions.

  • Engage in effective collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders to drive clarity and successful implementation of projects.

  • Support product owners with release planning through active collaboration.

  • Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance software, ensuring continuous improvement in the development process.

  • Lead by example within the team by producing maintainable, efficient, and scalable code.

  • Conduct code reviews to uphold the team’s and Microsoft’s high standards for quality.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 2+ years of experience working with big data or a large scale distributed system

Other Qualifications:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: 

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • Experience with mentorship and technical leadership

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
