Job description

The Montgomery County Sheriffs Office is seeking a highly motivated individual to fill a vacant deputy sheriff position within the agency. KLETC Certification is preferred but not required as we will train the right candidate.

Performs varied law enforcement duties including investigation of crime. Protection of life and property, enforces laws and ordinances and maintains order. Executes all tasks associated with first responder police services, general patrol duties, and collision investigation. Responds to major crime scene investigations for any death of a violent or suspicious nature, murder, suicide, accident, drug overdose, sexual assaults, and armed robberies. Enforces traffic and criminal laws. Patrols assigned areas in a vehicle and/or on foot. Deter and discover crime, perform investigations, aid persons in trouble, and render other public services. Respond to reports of crime and take action as the situation requires. Interview victims and witnesses, gather evidence and arrest suspects. Investigate suspicious persons, identify and secure evidence, and complete reports. Locate, document, and preserve physical evidence through visual examination, photography, and collection. Develop street contacts and obtain information about crimes, check known and possible stolen property outlets. Testify in court regarding investigations, evidence collected, arrests, and criminal cases referred for charges. Serves court process. Provides court security. Performs all other duties as they are assigned.
