Performs routine public contact and safety work in overseeing and teaching swimming lessons, developing and leading in-service training and serving as a pool lifeguard.

Supervise Municipal Pool Supervisors, Lifeguards, Clerks, and volunteers, as assigned.\ \ Maintains harmony among workers and resolves grievances.\ \ Performs or assists subordinates in performing duties; adjusts errors and complaints.\ \ Prepares for publication a variety of brochures, calendars, letters, posters, news releases, flyers, and related communications regarding recreation programs.\ \ Manages and supervises assigned operations to achieve goals within available resources; plans and organizes workloads and staff assignments; trains, motivates and evaluates assigned staff; reviews progress and directs changes as needed.\ \ Schedules, coordinates and conducts in-service training. Ensures that lifeguards are fully competent in first aid, CPR, and all water rescue techniques.\ \ Oversees swimming lessons and Junior Lifeguard classes according to a prescribed routine and curriculum.\ \ Orients new lifeguards to job duties and responsibilities. Ensures that all lifeguards are current on their training and certifications.\ \ Assists with the scheduling of all staff to ensure that adequate coverage of pool areas are maintained during operating hours.\ \ Ensures that swimmers are well supervised in the pool and on decks\ \ Monitors the use of the swimming pool; enforces safety rules.\ \ Patrols the swimming pool and aquatics facility.\ \ Assists in implementing various aquatics programs throughout the year.\ \ Performs a variety of miscellaneous duties such as answering phone, running errands, picking up supplies needed for activities, conducting classes, selling tickets, collecting fees, helping set up for classes, events, etc.\ \ Responds to public inquiries about aquatics programs made by telephone, correspondence, or during public meetings.\ \ Offer excellent customer service to all patrons. Greet customers with a smile and respond to their needs in a kind and courteous manner.\ \ Take inventory of items to ensure adequate amount of items are available and restocked accordingly.\ \ Participate in keeping all areas of the facility neat, clean and safe at all times. These duties include sweeping and mopping the restrooms, locker rooms, lobby, meeting rooms, concessions and removing trash, changing lights, cleaning pool deck etc.\ \ Be available to work nights and weekends.\ \ Assists in the maintenance of and cleaning of the entire facility. Monitors and maintains pool filtration system. Monitors pool water chemistry through testing of water samples. Adjusts chemistry as needed to maintain standards.\ \ Other duties as assigned.\ \ \ PERIPHERAL DUTIES\ \ Officiates at swimming meets.\ \ Serves as a member of various employee committees, as assigned.
