Job Description Summary:

Tenure track appointments are full-time with an initial probationary period of seven years. Criteria for promotion includes significant achievements in teaching, research/scholarship, and service. The award of tenure is based on potential for sustained contributions, performing beyond expected duties, and demonstrating leadership and innovation in activities that enhance the reputation of the University.

The Clinical Scholar Track is for full-time faculty members who are heavily involved in clinical service, education, and related scholarship. This track has two career paths: Clinician-Educator concentrating on teaching and Clinician-Investigator for concentrating on research/scholarship. Significant contributions in professional and academic service are required for both paths.

Job Description:

Required Qualifications

Education:

  • Board Certified or Board Eligible MD or DO from an accredited University.
  • Orthopedic Surgery Residency completion from an ACGME accredited training program.
  • Fellowship training in the sub-specialty area of Hand & Upper Extremity.

Work Experience:

  • Training or practice in the area of Hand & Upper Extremity
  • Exposure to clinical and research-related aspects of Hand & Upper Extremity

Preferred Qualifications

Education: Additional certification.

Work Experience:

  • 1-3 Year\'s practice experience in the area of Orthopedic Surgery.
  • Academic productivity and publications in area of interest.
  • Research experience or exposure in area of interest.

Job Duties Outlined:

  • Full-time clinical practice in the Orthopedic Surgery sub-specialty area of Hand & Upper Extremity
  • Participation in the advancement and education of medical students, orthopedic surgery residents, and fellows. Specifically, in Hand & Upper Extremity patient care management and academic research
  • Equitable participation in the general orthopedic call schedule
  • Active participant in the Hand & Upper Extremity Orthopedic division
  • Participation in orthopedic departmental and faculty meetings or other assigned committees or initiatives as assigned by the Chair, important to either Orthopedic Surgery, The University of Kansas Health System, the University of Kansas Medical Center, Hand & Upper Extremity service line division, or some other clinical, strategic or operational initiative.
