Honeywell Sr. Project Manager-Furniture in Kansas City, Missouri

Summary

Performing and coordinates highly complex engineering activities on major facility projects, evaluations, and upgrades of high-tech facilities and utility systems to meet plant, Department of Energy (DOE), or regulatory agency requirements, applying advanced mathematical, physical science, and engineering technologies.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs project and construction management on highly technical projects, perform studies and analyze performance metrics to ensure process compliance.

  • Assures design and construction conforms to all applicable codes, regulations, DOE orders, project intent, cost, schedules, and technical specifications.

  • Prepares conceptual design and design criteria documents, feasibility studies, and cost estimates and determines space allocation on highly technical plant projects.

  • Prepares and reviews project drawings and specifications for constructibility and compatibility with plant structures and utility systems, cost and schedule, energy conservation, and environmental impact assuring quality control.

  • Prepares status reports and conducts meetings and briefings for General Management and DOE (KCAO-AL-HQ) on complex proposals and project validations.

  • Responds to plant emergencies and prepares emergency response plans and budgets for protection of personnel and protection and upgrade of highly complex plant utilities and facilities.

  • Prepares designs and reports related to environmental restoration work and pollution abatement.

  • Coordinates remediation work with appropriate organizations.

  • Drafts policies, procedures, and standards related to environmental issues.

  • Conducts research studies to evaluate the latest technologies in materials, systems, and facility designs and provides technical assistance at purchased product vendors.

  • Provides project and construction management leadership and technical guidance on highly technical issues and projects.

  • May perform other duties as required.

  • Ensure design standards are followed and monitor for continuous improvement and development

  • Review drawings sets and purchase requisitions for accuracy and intent

  • Participate in client presentations and assist in monitoring design development

  • Manage and guide FES in the areas of space planning strategy and problem solving in developing solutions

You Must Have

  • Five or more years experience in construction projects or related technical activities, including application of construction engineering principles and technology related to complex projects

  • Bachelor`s degree or two additional years of experience

  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time

  • Ability to work remote, hybrid, or on-site as directed by management and is determined by the needs of the business

  • Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job

  • United States Citizenship

  • Ability to obtain and maintain, if required for position, a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance (some positions require additional DOE designations)

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or other technical field or two additional years of direct work experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree preferred.

  • Ability to apply concepts, design, evaluation, and quality assurance techniques to highly technical projects and to provide project leadership and technical guidance on highly complex projects.

  • Ability to work without supervision with latitude for independent action and decision making.

  • Ability to provide technical guidance, project management, consultative services, and innovative solutions. Some positions within this classification may require unique electrical, mechanical, structural, environmental, and/or computer-aided design expertise.

  • Knowledge of current materials, costs, and standards

  • Ability to write furniture specifications

  • Excellent space planning skills for new construction and renovation, with complete understanding of accessibility codes

  • Proven success working with customers and teammates

  • Strategic vision to solve complex problems and anticipate future implications of day-to-day decisions

  • Experience in the furniture industry; standards, specifications, procurement, delivery and installation

  • Ability to be the expert in furniture industry trends, solutions and applications

  • Manufacturing space planning experience

  • CADD/Revit experience

  • Excel proficiency

  • CAFM experience

  • Experience in or with a furniture dealership
