Position Summary:

The Senior Operations Manager oversees the day-to-day activities of directing, controlling and coordinating all phases of more than one department for a large-scale Distribution Center with complex cross dock operations for the departments such as: Warehouse, Transportation, 3rd party distributors, off-site storage facilities, Inventory, etc. This position may oversee Merchandising in some locations.

Position Responsibilities may include, but not limited to:

  • Partner with various departments to ensure timely and accurate loading of all distribution equipment in an efficient and cost-effective manner

  • Collaborate with various departments to build weekly/monthly volume and demand planning forecast to coordinate volume forecast with logistics and/or supply chain planning team(s)

  • Manage execution of day-to-day Distribution Center operations within parameters of both labor and operating expense budgets

  • Assist in the selection, supervision, and development of the Distribution Center team

  • Oversee the Merchandising team in some locations as appropriate

  • Establish the analysis of daily/weekly key performance indicators (KPI’s) and

  • Maintain collaborative relationships with all departments in order to achieve goals and provide customer satisfaction

  • Adhere to Company standards, policies, and all regulatory requirements

  • Manage and implement company initiatives to achieve performance, quality and safety metrics

  • Lead the improvement of processes and drive enhanced levels of efficiency

  • Ensure the safeguard and security of company assets

  • Ensure teamwork and alignment to guarantee a culture of synergy, engagement and transparency

  • Other projects or duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 8 plus years of consumer products and/or direct store delivery experience with 4 plus years of people leadership experience or HS Diploma/GED with 11 plus years of consumer products and/or direct store delivery experience with 5 plus years of people leadership experience

  • Ability to manage multiple projects of varying priorities at the same time

  • Strong sense of urgency

  • Result-driven mindset

  • Excellent follow up and follow through skills

  • Self-motivated, organized and disciplined

  • Excellent teamwork skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skill as well as interpersonal skills

  • Problem solver and solutions oriented with the ability to propose new solutions and/or resolve operational issues

  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment

  • Experience managing a P&L

  • Familiarity with DOT regulations

  • Knowledge of collective bargaining agreements

  • Excellent Microsoft Office Suite skills i.e., Word, Excel, Power Point

  • Experience with SAP, Dematic/ProTrack, Engineered Labor Standards (ELS) and/or GreenMile applications

  • Flexibility to work any shift as needed

  • Travel up to 20%

  • This position must pass a post-offer background and drug test

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Master’s degree

  • 5 plus years of experience leading in a union environment

  • Multiple facility management experience
