Job Summary and Qualifications

The HBO Tech, under direction of the Clinical RN Manager, administers hyperbaric Medicine Department, administers hyperbaric oxygen therapy to patients as prescribed by the Hyperbaric Physician.

What you will do:

  • Performs duties under supervision of the Program Director, Clinical Coordinator (RN Manager), and / or Physician in Charge as appropriate for the facility.

  • Responsible for the safe and effective operation of the hyperbaric chamber(s) and related support systems.

  • Responsible for the safe delivery of hyperbaric oxygen therapy to the hyperbaric patient.

In addition to being the chamber operator, the HBO Tech is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance on the hyperbaric chamber(s) and related support systems. The HBO Tech will also be the point person for assessment of materials that are appropriate for use in and around hyperbaric chambers.

What qualifications you will need:

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date

  • High School Graduate / GED

  • Must have at least one of the following (all are interchangeable):

  • Respiratory Therapist (RRT or CRT) or

  • State or Federal EMT or Paramedic certification or

  • State License as RN or LPN or C.N.A. or

  • Certified Hyperbaric Specialist or

  • Other Allied Healthcare professions as approved by the NBDHMT for certification eligibility

  • Must attain CHT or CHS certification within 6 months of hire
