The ideal candidate will need to possess knowledge and experience in GE 7B, 7EA,7FA and Siemens 501F frame gas turbines and generators.

POSITION PURPOSE:

Plan, organize, coordinate, and direct field Turbine Generator (T/G) repair work for PSS Turbine-Generator Field Services to meet or exceed the 01573 project plan scope and budget as well as customer expectations. Effectively and efficiently coordinate component repair and rebuild activities while attaining safety, quality, schedule, and financial objectives.

JOB DIMENSIONS:

Supervisory Responsibility— Providing daily management for multiple, cross-functional 1 - 500 Site TVA and Contract personnel.

Budget Responsibility— Capability to manage project budgets to $25 million, or a portfolio of projects that have an aggregate total over $75 million for all active projects assigned.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Direct field turbine-generator maintenance and repair work to ensure all projects are completed safely and in accordance with technical specifications, schedule and budget. This includes management of crews from multiple craft disciplines as well as coordination with safety, environmental, engineering, scheduling, financial, and logistics personnel.

  • Subject matter expertise of steam and/or gas turbine-generators and their auxiliary systems as it relates to field troubleshooting, disassembly, inspection, repair processes, assembly, and post-maintenance testing.

  • Provide project management expertise for all field operation activities.

  • Continuous focus on the satisfaction of customer-specific needs ensuring the delivery of cost-efficient services.

  • Organize, plan, prioritize and coordinate plant site field activities to best utilize available resources.

  • Coordinate field operations activities with repair shop work to ensure field outage objectives are met.

  • Ensure departmental workforce is adequately skilled, trained, and works cross-functionally to meet job demands.

  • Ensure adequate equipment, materials, manpower, and supporting resources are in place to perform work per plan and budget.

  • Monitors performance against plan and initiates appropriate actions that are required to achieve goals and objectives.

  • Ability to work effectively with technical, outage, partner, and business entities, as well as other plant managers/supervisors, labor representatives and staff support groups.

  • Ability to proactively resolve and ultimately prevents reoccurring day-to-day operational problems.

  • Fosters an atmosphere that values safety, quality, teamwork, continuous improvement and creativity.

  • Must demonstrate the ability to integrate and motivate employees in order to develop a harmonious working environment. Encourages the initiation of ideas and improvements in order to increase operating efficiency, effectiveness, and reliability.

  • Ability to translate project and operational goals into an effective and organized outage or project plan.

  • Flexibility working under tight schedules and budgets, high customer expectations, and frequent emergent work and travel.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education— Associate Degree in Engineering Technology, Construction, technical field, or equivalent education, Journeyman training and/or related work experience. Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.

Experience— Subject matter expertise of steam and/or gas turbine-generators and their auxiliary systems as it relates to field troubleshooting, disassembly, inspection, repair processes, assembly, and post-maintenance testing.

Certification/License, etc. — Demonstrated desire to excel in professional field of study as demonstrated by Certification/Licensure in professional field of study preferred but not required (e.g. PMP, SCWI, etc.)

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities—Must have the skills, ability, and experience commensurate with the size and complexity of the work scope. Strong facilitative leadership skills, good time-management, writing, computer (Micro-soft suite of products), and speaking skills, ability to read blueprints and drawings, ability to function effectively in a team environment, strong focus on results, self-motivated, with high personal and ethical standards. Strong organizational skills, excellent interpersonal skills, analysis, working understanding of major procurement and construction contracting, cost accounting, budgeting, and scheduling is required. Candidate may be required to obtain and maintain a Sensitive Security clearance based on position / access requirements and essential job functions. Must have the ability to work on regular and multi-shift operations dealing with major outages, maintenance support, and projects. Should possess and demonstrate business savvy and entrepreneurial abilities. Extensive travel is required. Ability to work rotating shifts and maximum overtime as allowed by TVA processes.
