Job Description

As a Telecom OSP Designer, you will assist project managers and engineers, use drafting software to create plans, perform underground and/or aerial design work, review as-Builts and field collected data to determine the optimal running line and construction method. Analyze aerial Imagery and general maps to identify existing utilities or potential obstructions; producing and reviewing high quality constructible plan sets using CAD based software. Olsson's Telecom technology experts provide clients with services ranging from long haul outside plant design, inside plant design, Fiber to the home (FTTH) design, and GIS Asset Management / Fiber Mapping services.

You may travel to job sites for observation or field work, working in all types of terrain and weather conditions.

Qualifications

You bring to the team:

  • Strong communication skills

  • Ability to contribute and work well on a team.

  • Demonstrate the ability to multi-task.

  • Ability to meet project deadlines.

  • General knowledge in OSP construction methods and best practices.

  • Ability to initiate and coordinate right-of-way (ROW)/utility permits.

  • Associate degree in drafting or equivalent work experience.

  • 2 - 5 years of design experience

  • Knowledge of Google Earth KMZ files.

  • Knowledge of MicroStation and/or AutoCAD based software is preferred, not required.

  • Knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS Software products is preferred, not required.

  • Knowledge of Net Designer and/or other asset management platforms is preferred, not required.
