FORT BEND COUNTY MUNICIPAL Youth Community Outreach Coordinator in Richmond, Texas

FORT BEND COUNTY DEPARTMENT: JUVENILE PROBATION JOB TITLE: YOUTH COMMUNITY OUTREACH COORDINATOR Participates in and assists in coordinating a community outreach program incorporating education, counseling, job skills, life skills, mentorship and recreational activities for youth age 14-17 in conjunction with other Fort Bend County Agencies. Participates in planning of programs, policies or objectives for own work group and department. This is a grant-funded position. DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervises youth in well planned and structured recreational activities. Interacts with school districts, service organizations, community churches and law enforcement agencies. Establishes contacts with higher education and trade schools. Assists with Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services. Assists youth with overcoming barriers to education opportunities. Develops avenues for admissions and financial aid in higher education institutions. Builds business, community relationships, and social capital. Mentors youth and provides educational help, tutoring and life skills development. Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers. REQUIREMENTS: High School Diploma/GED. Must be 21 years of age per company policy. One year of job related experience. Ability to interact effectively with the public and other employees. Ability to complete assigned tasks within tight deadlines and the ability to prioritize own work. Valid Texas Drivers License to travel to activities. SALARY: $22.95 per hour State standards shall disqualify an applicant if their criminal history reveals: 1) A felony conviction against the laws of this state, another state, or the United States within the past 10 years; a deferred adjudication for a felony against the laws of this state, another state, or the United States within the past 10 years or current felony probation or parole 2) A jailable misdemeanor conviction against the laws of this state, another state or the United States within the past 5 years; a deferred adjudication for a jailable misdemeanor against the laws of this state, another state, or the United States within the past 5 years or current misdemeanor probation or parole 3) Registered as a sex offender under Chapter 62, Texas Code of Criminal Procedure.
