Responsibilities

Computational Postdoctoral Scholar

The research program of Dr. Jorg Goronzy ( https://www.mayo.edu/research/faculty/goronzy-joerg-jorg-m-d-ph-d/bio-20527076 ) in the Department of Immunology at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science in Rochester, MN has an open position for a postdoctoral research fellow. The laboratory is interested in the effect of age on the ability to generate adaptive immune responses. Specifically, we study molecular mechanisms of T cell aging as well as T cell memory generation and survival using multi-modal single cell and bulk multi-omics dataset. The successful candidate will be involved in NIH-funded projects including human studies with mechanistic molecular and translational scope.

Minimum Qualifications

• PhDinComputational Biology, Computer Science, Statistics, Immunology, Molecular Biology, or related field required. Proof of English proficiency is required for an appointment.

• Proficiency in R and/or Python is required. Experience with single-cell and bulk tools/libraries for data analysis and integration, such as Seurat, ScanPy, scvi-tools

• Familiarity with high performance computing (Unix/Linux)

• Ability to effectively interface with non-computational biologists to communicate/discuss results, hypotheses, and follow-up experiments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in design, analysis and interpretation of large-scale molecular datasets, especially single-cell multimodal (RNA, ATAC, TCR, Protein), and other NGS data-types.

• Experience with developing data visualization tools such as Shiny apps or integration of genomic data in data visualization platforms is a plus.

The selected candidate will join a team of researchers with expertise in systems immunology, immunology, computational immunology, molecular biology with experience in single celld datasets. A Research Fellow position in Life Sciences (LS) will require knowledge of either clinical-based research or laboratory-based research often obtained from a postdoctoral program.

A Research Fellow at Mayo Clinic is a temporary position intended to provide training and education in research. Individuals will train in the research program of a Mayo Clinic principal investigator. Qualified individuals will demonstrate the potential for research as evidenced by their training and peer-reviewed publications and should become competitive for national research grants. Proof of English proficiency is required for J-1 Short-Term Scholars, Research Scholars, Professors, Specialists, and Student Interns sponsored by Mayo Clinic.

Qualifications

Must have a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent doctoral degree in a field deemed relevant by the program. Research Fellow is appropriate for individuals who have completed no more than one prior postdoctoral fellowship, at Mayo Clinic or elsewhere.
