Sealevel Construction Inc Civil Estimator in Thibodaux, Louisiana

Join us at the Bayou Region Career and Resource Fair on 10/31/2023 from 10:00AM to 3:00PM at the Warren Harang (Thibodaux Civic Center) at 310 N Canal Blvd., Thibodaux, LA 70301.

Civil Estimator

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of three (3) years in heavy civil construction experience.
  • Five plus (5+) years of relevant site work and/or estimating experience preferred.
  • Bachelors Degree in Construction Engineering Management, Civil Engineering, or other related engineering degree.
  • Excellent computer skills, proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Excel, PDF files, and estimating software.
  • Must be knowledgeable of applicable municipalities, utilities, OSHA and/or governing bodies which may dictate codes and specifications regulating construction methods and materials.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge of construction materials, methods, and mathematics.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Promote, execute, and adhere to the companys safety program.
  • Prepare and ensure the timely completion of bids and proposal packages.
  • Comprehend and accurately determine the technical requirements of the work to be performed.
  • Identify labor, material, equipment, and time requirements of the work to be performed.
  • Accurately calculate direct and indirect costs.
  • Review client provided bid documents and determine/assemble required deliverables.
  • Provide supervision and training for less experienced team members.
  • Evaluate construction bids for completeness and accuracy.
  • Make recommendations and provide value engineering ideas to the estimating team.
  • Provide cost consultation to clients and project managers.
  • Subcontractor, supplier, vendor, and client interactions.
  • Estimate entire projects or estimate as part of an estimating team depending on size and scope of project.
  • Thoroughly read plans and specifications prior to starting the bid. Submit bid questions pertaining to engineers in advance to receive a timely response.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings and pre-construction conferences, and other meetings as required.
  • Perform site work evaluations.
  • Prepare requests for quotations and analysis of subcontract and material proposals.
  • Manage completion requests and project close-out meetings and dates.
  • Manage internal and/or external contractors or trades.
  • Review design options andrecommend bestsolution based on cost, engineering quality or availability of materials.
  • Review/research historical data (purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity analysis reports, etc.) and compile summary reports to develop guidelines and precedence for future estimates.
  • Review proposal specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate.
  • Proficiently prepare estimates by calculating various statistical data such as quantity take-offs, material price lists, labor costs per man-hour and equipment costs and applying to complete scope of work.
