Salary: \$945 per load hour (most courses are 3-4 load hours)

Position Summary

Pima Community College\'s Mathematics Department is currently accepting applications to expand the pool of qualified mathematics Faculty to teach both Developmental and Academic level mathematics in the 2023-24 academic year.

We are seeking dedicated part-time instructors to join our pool of excellent adjunct faculty. Qualified candidates may be asked to teach for college level courses that include:

Introductory and Intermediate Algebra

Topics in College Mathematics

College Algebra

Pre-Calculus

Calculus sequence

Teachers in these courses will be using active learning strategies, online resources and will provide equitable instruction for our students. Adjunct faculty are hired from the pool to teach specific classes as there is need or enrollment.

Our classes may be offered:

Face-to-face on a PCC campus

Hyflex (hybrid and flexible) on a campus (in person with remote student participating)

In our Santa Cruz Center located in Nogales, Arizona

Duties and Responsibilities

General Duties:

Instruct students in math and work with them on strategies to help them achieve academic success

Follow established protocols for presence, responsiveness, grading, attendance taking, and assessment of student learning.

Use current, effective classroom management techniques

Monitor and continuously improve instruction to ensure Student Learning Outcomes are met on a classroom, discipline/program, and College level

Evaluate student performance

Continually improve instruction utilizing appropriate delivery methods

Maintain competency and currency in the teaching fields as well as in teaching strategies, subject delivery modalities, and assessment methods

Work collaboratively with faculty, staff and students and utilize a collegial style in all forms of communication

Use online resources to meet with students virtually

The ideal candidate will have knowledge, skills, and abilities related to:

Experience teaching mathematics courses.

Experience teaching in traditional and web-enhanced courses.

Knowledge of curriculum development, course design, and online delivery

Student learning styles: ability to adapt and modify instruction based on the instructional needs of students, including working with accommodations and accessibility

Strong technical skills related to enhancing classroom instruction with technology.

Experience using learning management systems.

Experience evaluating students\' educational progress: ability to maintain high instruction and learning standards and assess students\' academic progress in meeting course objectives and student learning outcomes

Competencies in multiculturalism, diversity, and inclusivity: knowledge of diverse community college student populations, and the ability to address diversity in effective instructional practice and student learning

Minimum Qualifications

Developmental Level

Bachelor\'s degree (or higher) in Mathematics or a related field of study (Statistics, Data Analytics, some engineering fields, etc..) OR

Bachelor\'s degree in any discipline and 24 semester hours in the field of study

Academic Level

Master\'s degree (or higher) in Mathematics or a related field of study (Statistics, Data Analytics, some engineering fields, etc.) OR

Master\'s degree in any discipline and 18 graduate semester hours in the field of study

Fields of study (disciplines/subfields) may include: mathematics; statistics; some data analytics courses, mathematical sciences; some engineering fields; physics. Mathematics Education or other education related
